Total production of wood-based panels in 2017 was 3.2 million cubic metres, a 5% increase from 2016 (Table 2.23). Over three quarters (79%) of wood-based panel products produced in the UK in 2017 were particleboard (including oriented strand board (OSB)).
The marked decrease between 2011 and 2012 largely results from the closure of a panel mill in 2012.

Notes:
1. Includes Oriented Strand Board (OSB).
2. Includes Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF).
3. Changes in the mix of materials used and type of product produced can result in apparent discrepancies between the trends for inputs (Table 2.22) and production.
