Tom is an ecologist and conservation scientist with an interest in landscape restoration and reintroductions. Tom is a multidisciplinary scientist and uses methods from across field ecology, computational modelling, genetics, and palaeontology to study the natural world. His current research focuses on developing field experiments to study landscape restoration processes, informing best practice and quantify outcomes.

Tom joined Forest Research in 2024 after having completed a PhD at the University of Cambridge studying the role of large reptiles in rewilding projects. Tom has a background in reintroductions and rewilding projects, and has managed projects for organisations such as the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and Chester Zoo.
