Merchantability of Noble fir, Norway spruce, western red cedar and western hemlock

This project provided information for growers and processors about the merchantable volume and wood properties of these four species
Material from each of the four species was obtained in different growing regions of the UK. Forest stands were even-aged single species plantations. Assessment were made on standing and felled trees to quantify merchantability, and timber samples were collected and tested to provide information about the grade determining wood properties.
