While the production of timber is likely to be the principal objective in most woodlands, any water features, whether stream, river, pond, lake or loch, are important assets deserving the forester's attention. It is therefore important to appreciate how delicate the natural balance is when considering various forest management practices which could affect the aquatic environment. This Leaflet discusses forest management in relation to stream conservation, as well as stream health and improvement.
