This role will be involved in implementing and supporting the new information management principles and helping to bring about change to both physical and digital records management, as outlined in our Digital and Data Strategies.

This role is integral to the smooth operating of our Scottish field team. You will work closely with the other Field Station Manager’s, the Field Research Officers, and the Field Data Services Programme and Operations Lead’s to support and manage business processes to allow the field teams to deliver their work on the ground.

As a member of the Forestry Commission’s Expert Committee on Forest Science, you will provide independent expert advice on the quality, relevance and impact of UK forest science research and help shape future forestry research, policy and practice.

The Laboratory Technician will play a part in maintaining the laboratories to a good standard and compliant with Health and Safety requirements. They will also assist the other laboratory technicians in supporting the research staff and lab managers, and have the opportunity to learn about and work within a category II containment facility and use a laboratory information management system (LIMS).

The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for overseeing the smooth functioning of several laboratory spaces, which include supporting compliance to health and safety and COSHH requirements, management of equipment, general laboratory hygiene and procurement of consumables and equipment.
