The increasing concern throughout the world about the future availability of fossil fuels and other finite resources has emphasised the need for appraising the balance of wood demand and supply into the next century, and in particular its implications for wood production and forest strategy in Great Britain. This led the Forestry Commissioners to invite a group of officials to consider the wood production outlook in Great Britain to the year 2050 and this report represents the views of the Group.
