This research aims to improve the development of woodland statistics for England by exploring improvements to the process of producing statistics.
This goes from the beginning of the process by looking at improvements to existing data sources and suitability of new data sources, through to improving the dissemination of statistics for all audiences.
This also involves optimising the production of Official Statistics to streamline the process and enable reproducibility, as well as creating documentation to help users understand the statistics we produce.

So far, the project has:
• Produced a Quality Assurance of Administrative Data (QAAD) report
• Streamlined the process of producing statistics when publishing Provisional Woodland Statistics 2024 through using a RAP
• Produced the most recent biennial Public Opinion of Forestry survey. This was run in March 2023 (with over 11,000 respondents in the UK), with results released in summer 2024.
